Where Heritage Makers came from:

“I wanted my children to know one of the greatest men I’ve ever known — my grandfather” - Candy May

Our story begins with a young mother who was concerned that her children might not get to know her hero- her grandfather. Candy May’s interview with her grandfather became the substance of a simple, photocopied, spiral-bound booklet with only a couple of old photographs and some drawings- the first storybook. Eventually, she had the booklet hard-bound, and it became her children’s favorite bedtime story.

Candy thought that surely there were others who would like to preserve and share their heroes and stories in this way as well. And the vision for a business was born. Candy’s mother, Sharon Murdoch, shared her passion for story, and that shared passion became a dream to get a family storybook in every home. Together they launched the storybooking movement!

The public response to their movement was tremendous! Sharon sought marketing advice from direct selling expert, Doug Cloward, who quickly recognized its potential as a home -based business that could help families strengthen and share their heritage. The key would be the development of a simple, highly-duplicatable, digital creative publishing technology. Doug, Sharon and Candy combined their ideas, resources and experience. They were joined bye a handful of others who recognized the timeliness of the venture. Together, they became the business team of the world’s first storybooking business - Heritage Makers.

What's your Story??

tips for getting your pictures off your memory card

1. it's okay to throw or delete bad pictures. Using one good one and journaling will be more meaningful to your child than 1000 pictures without any story.
2. Start today and stay current. Work back as you can but if you try to start from 10 years ago, you will be too overwhelmed.
